The Queen Bee & The First Love: Chloe’s Equine Story

At her family home, Chloe stepped into her own editorial moment, styled with quiet glamour, framed by a apple and pear orchard roses and accompanied by the mares who have defined her journey.

The Dream

Some shoots have a kind of magic that stays with you. Chloe’s was one of those. She wanted to be photographed with her two mares, Millie and Wiggy, at their family home, and right from the start I knew it would be special. Especially as the shoot was a gift from her Brother for her birthday.

The Horses

Millie is just six, a bay mare with the most wonderful mix of sweetness and sass. She is calm to handle, almost like having a dog following you around, but in the ring she lights up and becomes the queen bee. Wiggy is fifteen now and Chloe’s first horse. Headstrong, bold and still full of attitude.

The Setting

The family home was the perfect backdrop. We had the inspiring curved driveway, rose bushes in full bloom and my absolute favourite part, the orchard filled with apple and pear trees. Being allowed to take the horses into the orchard felt really special, where they had great fun grabbing a treat along the way.

The Styling

Styling always sets the tone for the shoot and Chloe let me dive right in. We went through her wardrobe and Ester’s (her Mum’s) as well. Between them they had an incredible selection, especially the shoes. Together we chose outfits that felt true to Chloe’s style but elevated for the occasion.

At the stables we hung everything neatly, pairing dresses with shoes and bridles so that once the camera came out there was nothing left to think about. That meant Chloe could simply enjoy being with Millie and Wiggy without any distractions.

We even included two handmade rocking horses, each with a horseshoe engraved with the names of the real horses, which was such a personal touch.

The Shoot

The day had its own rhythm. Millie stood with quiet dignity, her queen bee personality shining through in every frame. Wiggy reminded us of her fire, always ready to put her mark on the shoot.

Chloe moved between them so naturally, one moment styled like a fashion muse and the next laughing as a horse nudged her for attention.

Those in-between moments are always the ones that make the images feel alive.

The Artwork

When it came to choosing the final images, Chloe picked her favourites carefully. Today those portraits hang throughout their home in multiple frames. For me that is the heart of what I do, seeing the story of a girl and her horses woven into the spaces they live in.

Reflection

This was more than a photoshoot. It was Chloe’s chapter, told through the horses who shaped her journey. Millie the queen bee, Wiggy the first love, and Chloe, at the centre of it all.

If you’d love to create your own portraits like Chloe’s, the first step is simply getting in touch. Every shoot is tailored to you, your horses and the story you want to tell. You can send me a message and we’ll start planning your day together.
