A Morning to Remember with Abi and Her Majestic Show Jumper

When Soho Equestrian announced their online competition in collaboration with me, we were thrilled with the response from the equestrian community. Enthusiastic riders from all over shared their stories and dreams of capturing special moments with their beloved horses. The lucky winner of this competition was Abi, a passionate young rider who loves her show jumper, Harry, very much.

On a rare sunny morning in February, I had the pleasure of meeting Abi and Harry for their much-anticipated photo shoot. From the moment we arrived at the picturesque stables, the excitement was palpable. The sun was shining, the air was crisp, and the bond between Abi and Harry was evident in every interaction.

Capturing the Bond Between Rider and Horse

Abi had prepared meticulously for the shoot, ensuring that both she and Harry were looking their best. Harry, a stunning show jumper with a gleaming coat and a proud stance, was the picture of elegance and cheekiness. You could tell how much pride Abi holds for Harry as she introduced us to him, sharing stories of their adventures and achievements together.

We started the session on the driveway, relaxing Harry into the shoot with a simple walking shot. Getting him familiar with my voice and letting him know that Im not going to ask anything complicated from him.

As with most show jumpers, Harry needed us to work quickly and efficiently. No mucking around with timings, get into the pose, take the shot and move on… luckily this is my super power.

Selecting the Perfect Images

After an exhilarating morning of photography, it was time to review the images at Abi’s private viewing a few weeks later. Abi was thrilled as we sifted through the shots, each one a testament to the bond she shares with Harry. Choosing the favourite images was no easy task, but Abi’s discerning eye and love for her horse guided her selections (with the help of Mum and Dad).

In the end, Abi chose a series of stunning photos that perfectly encapsulated the essence of her relationship with Harry. These images, now beautifully framed, adorn the walls of her home, bringing joy and memories to her and her family every day.
