Kate and Tom
Ah back to my favourite location, South Medburn.
I have been commissioned at this yard for the past 4 years and I still find new locations and changes made at this yard that blow my mind. This time of year, we have long grass fields, weeping willows and groomed tracks that last for days.
I have met Kate a few times on previous commissions at the yard and I couldn’t wait for her shoot with Tom. He is the gentlest of giants and clearly loves Kate very much. As long as Kate was going there, Tom is following.
We started going through Kate’s clothing options and I quickly understood her style and personality – Country Chic, Fun and Funky!
On my design consultations I go through what you should bring for your shoot, but what I want to make sure is that your true personality shines through from your outfits without them being distracting in your portraits. These images will last a lifetime and every client deserves to look back at these images in 50 – 60 – 70 years and smile at this time in their lives.
Kate and I went through her typical style and she collected together the perfect pick of clothes for her shoot. She brought a dress, blue dressage boots and everything else that summed up the perfect look for an equine portrait shoot.
After we chose the outfits, I then matched the locations to the styles. When I go for a smarter look I like to stick to the yard. The structure of the surroundings and the harsher lines match with the smarter look. When we go up to the fields, long grass and majestic trees I want the style in clothing to match this.
We started on the yard and in the stable. Settling Tom to my voice and clicks as I always do and captured this beautiful moment along with many others in this location.
We then changed Kate’s top and headed to the weeping willow, which I am sure South Medburn put in for photo shoots as it’s totally perfect.
We then headed up to the fields with the long grass, impressive trees and wooden gates, perfect for shoots.
Thank you to Kate for asking me to protect your memories.
