In the southwest France, amidst rolling hills and charming countryside, I recently had the pleasure of embarking on a equine portrait photoshoot with the talented equestrian, Sanne Udink, and her magnificent show jumpers. It was important to me that we added in Sanne’s stunning location to add to the images and their legacy.
As a photographer with a deep appreciation for both the artistry of equine sports and the art of visual storytelling, I knew from the moment I arrived at the stables that this photoshoot would be something special.
Sanne, with her infectious enthusiasm and love for her horses, welcomed me into her world with open arms. It was clear from the get-go how much she adores her horses and how much love and attention she gives them.
We kicked things off by selecting two of Sanne’s stars, Milkshake and Candy, with their mischievous glints in their eyes, they were ready to steal the spotlight. As for wardrobe? We went for classic, country elegance.
With the French countryside as our playground, we set off around Lalande Laborie, Sanne’s family estate that she runs.
Sanne’s location is genuinely breath taking. We shot on a cooler February morning and the mist was still low, adding so much drama to this set of images.
And let me tell you, there was no shortage of personality on set. Whether it was a cheeky wink from one of the horses or a spontaneous burst of laughter from Sanne, every moment was brimming with energy and authenticity.
So here’s to Sanne Udink, her fearless show jumpers, and the wild ride that is the world of equestrian sport. It’s been a blast, and I can’t wait to do it all over again. Until next time, au revoir, France
